In this watercolor lesson, we will paint penguins using a loose and splashy style that emphasizes movement and mood over precision. Starting with quick gesture sketches, we will build expressive forms with wet-on-wet washes in icy blues and inky blacks, allowing the paint to bleed and bloom naturally. Splatter techniques add playful energy—suggesting snow flurries or flapping wings—while minimal details like beaks and eyes are added last to preserve spontaneity. The goal is to evoke the charm and character of penguins through fluid brushwork and joyful imperfection, encouraging emotional storytelling and creative freedom.
In this watercolor lesson, you’ll design and paint your own Tiffany-style stained glass window, channeling the elegance of Art Nouveau and the glow of jewel-toned glass. You’ll start by sketching a symmetrical panel filled with flowing lines and nature-inspired motifs—think irises, dragonflies, or peacocks. Then, using vibrant washes and controlled bleeding, you’ll mimic the luminous effect of stained glass, adding bold outlines to suggest leaded divisions. As you layer colors and refine contrast, your piece will come to life with decorative flair and emotional warmth, celebrating both structure and fluidity in your creative storytelling. Join us for 3 hours of creative fun!
This is the week when we do a study – a preparatory or practice piece that helps us to understand specific elements. Although the primary goal of a study is learning and skill development, you will come away with some finished pieces – a dramatic whale’s tail in a vast ocean and a crashing wave. The focus will be on exploring movement, light reflection and brush techniques to capture the energy and flow of water. We’ll look at how to layer colour for depth and use highlights to suggest motion and surface texture.
Capture the drama and beauty of the sea in this expressive acrylic session. We’ll guide you step-by-step as you paint a resilient lighthouse standing tall amidst crashing waves and swirling skies. Perfect for beginners and improvers, this lesson explores texture, movement, and contrast — with plenty of room for personal flair.

Celebrate the charm of seasonal change by painting a Victorian-style bandstand neslted in a park ablaze with autumnal colour. We will sketch a simple composition then use acrylics to layer blocks of colour and add expressive brushstrokes for foliage and sky.
Techniques include colour mixing for rusty reds, ochres and soft greys, and optional palette knife work to add texture.
