5-week & 12-week art skills classes in Wall, Lichfield
Our art skills courses, classes, & workshops cover 4-key areas to support students to develop their art skills so that they turn into well-rounded creative artists – whether for their own enjoyment or with ambitions to exhibit and sell work.
This is our most comprehensive course, and our students love it. They regularly tell us that their ‘art day’ has become their favourite day of the week!
Over the 12 weeks, you will learn the skills and techniques needed to grow in confidence. We cover many different subjects, including portraiture, animals, still life and landscapes. Each session is three hours long, and are currently available mornings, afternoons and evenings on Thursdays and morning and afternoon on Fridays at our main venue in the delightful village of Wall, Lichfield.
You don’t need any prior experience as our talented tutors will explain the skills being taught and help you to apply them at your level. Classes are friendly and relaxed.
Over the course, you will learn a variety of drawing and painting skills. As you enjoy each project, you will learn how to identify and use the elements of art – line, shape, value, form, texture, colour and space. In the final week, you will be given the opportunity to draw on the skills acquired through previous projects to create a piece of your choice, with the guidance and support of our experienced tutors.
We have a new curriculum each course and many of our students rebook and come back term after term. However, if you just want to try us out for a single term, and take it from there, that’s fine. Each session is three hours long and includes group tuition, individual guidance, course notes and all materials including paper and refreshments. Over 18’s (adults) only.

Our 12 week all-ability course is suitable for beginners. However, we recognise that some people may be nervous about walking into a room where they worry that everyone else in class will be more advanced than they are. If this is you, don’t worry – this shorter, 5 week course is what you need!
We start from scratch and teach you the fundamental principles and techniques required to become a confident artist. You will learn how to make something appear three-dimensioal on the page, how to choose colours that work well together and how to accurately draw the human face.
Our sessions are informative, engaging and fun! Each class is packed with exercises and techniques that will deepen your understanding and love of art and help you practive the key skills you need.
Once you’ve completed this course, you’ll feel more confident to progress onto any of our mixed-ability courses and workshops to continue developing your skills and pursue your love of art. We make sure that each student receives individual attention as well as whole group instruction.
