In today’s piece, we will look at building a composition consisting of background, middle ground and foreground, and atmospheric or aerial perspective. Using atmospheric perspective creates the illusion of depth (or distance) by showing the foreground as clearer and brighter and the background as paler, less detailed and usually bluer. This is a technique used by artists to give the impression that things in the background are much further away than
the things in the foreground.
