In this watercolor lesson, we will paint penguins using a loose and splashy style that emphasizes movement and mood over precision. Starting with quick gesture sketches, we will build expressive forms with wet-on-wet washes in icy blues and inky blacks, allowing the paint to bleed and bloom naturally. Splatter techniques add playful energy—suggesting snow flurries or flapping wings—while minimal details like beaks and eyes are added last to preserve spontaneity. The goal is to evoke the charm and character of penguins through fluid brushwork and joyful imperfection, encouraging emotional storytelling and creative freedom.
