In this session we will be using vibrant oil pastels to paint an interesting and harmonious portrait. The focus of the lesson is on the use of colour, both in the under-layers and itn the top layers. We will demonstrate how to use a secondary colour scheme of purples and oranges to capture the shade and highlights on the face.

Because the learning in today’s lesson is around the use of colour rather than construction of the face, students will have the option of transferring the image onto their paper rather than having to draw it out so they have the time to focus on the main skill being taught. With support from our tutors, this session is suitable for those with less experience as well as more accomplished.
